My project is inspired by my girlfriend’s oldest son, Antonio. Antonio grew up in a similar situation as me. No father, a brother, and a single Mother to call “Mom”. Since Antonio was born, his father has been in and out of the penitentiary. This has caused Antonio to have insecurities that I am all too familiar with…The absence of Antonio’s father has a serious potential to effect his interaction with peers, teachers, and even family. I hope to share my time and thoughts with Antonio to widen his perspective on being a young boy without a father/son connection.
Brian spent about 25 hours planning fun activities to do with Antonio and trying to help him navigate some of the tough issues he was dealing with. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of spending time with Antonio, his mother was forced out of her apartment due to financial stress. This left her and Antonio with no place to live. She ended up granting temporary custody of Antonio to her best friend. I can only hope he keeps in mind everything we talked about and uses it as strength to get through this time. Antonio deserves justice.
