Here Anthony describes what he did to organize an activity in his own words:

For my project I decided to look more inward at ARCC. As an avid Dungeons and Dragons player I quickly noticed that the college had no Dungeons and Dragons club. I know first hand how well the game can bring people together and I thought it would be a marvelous idea to bring that kind of unity to the college. Students, especially during the epidemic, have had very difficult times keeping in touch with other students, and I wanted to help fix that problem. After much deliberation I decided to create a Dungeons and Dragons club to bring students together.

What Did Anthony Accomplish?

As soon as I put out the idea within the campus there was an influx of students who wanted to join. Over 10 students came to me and asked for more information on the club, and only being a few days into the process of making it I knew this was a good sign. I was already getting students engaged and wanting to connect with others. Later on into the project most of those students never showed up, but their interest sparked my work drive all the same.

Throughout the process of creating the club in the college I definitely needed to learn a bit more patience. Students and staff do not always respond as quickly as we would like.

Here are Anthony’s tips if you want to organize a similar activity:

  • I can recommend that you ask as many questions you can, if you are confused about who to talk to about making a club then ask someone for help.
  • If you have a problem finding students to join a club put yourself out there and people will join you.
  • Give people time, it can be difficult to wait for so long but give people the time they need to work out what they are doing for your club, especially the advisor.
  • Make sure you have staff that are willing to help you with your club, and if you need help ask them.
