Annetta and Munah are each mothers from Liberia and raising their children in America. When presented with their Civic Engagement Project, they wanted to take this opportunity to hold educational forums within the Liberian Community to discuss differences in how kids behave and act in America and Liberia. They believed this would be helpful for the youth as well as their parents. They organized 2 forums at different churches. Annetta and Munah write, “We have come to realize that knowledge acquired from the preparation of the workshop was beneficiary to us as well as the participants. “ As a result of their research, they also expanded their own focus from Liberians. They realized that “Liberian youth were not the only group of people suffering from this; the Hmong, Somali and people from other non speaking [sic] countries are also affected.”
