The Civic Engagement Project: LOUD Team was created with the goal to provide two basic needs for children; an understanding of what worship is and why it’s important, and good role models to demonstrate and cultivate virtues.

The main idea behind the LOUD Team project was that children are in need of good role models. From that idea came two teams of 5 teenagers that would work with kids K – 5th grade every Sunday. They teach the kids about worship and virtue, both important concepts to understand and apply to life.

Every Sunday, the teenagers go to their church and hang out with kids for a few hours, playing, talking, and having a time of worship. During this time, they have the opportunity to get to know the children and have fun with them.

This is a project based mainly around building relationships with the kids, so that they have a good example to follow. The teenagers model how to act, they also model the importance of worship.

Before a song is played, they explain the words to the kids so that they understand what it means. Then, they all sing the songs together. It’s important to the team that everyone understand what the songs mean and why they are being sung. If the kids don’t know what they are singing, then there’s no lasting point to it.
